    • Daffodils perform best in full sun to light shade.
    • Plant daffodils when temperatures have cooled in your area September through December. Once your daytime temperatures are in the 60’s or lower consistently, this is a good time to plant your daffodils.
    • Proper drainage is critical to the daffodils success. Amend your soil with top soil and organic matter such as compost, manure or peat most prior to planting. You soil should be light and easy to work with. The addition of Kelp Meal to your planting area will help the daffodil bulbs establish strong roots.
    • Large 14/16 cm daffodils should be planted 6-8” deep with the pointed side facing the sky. Miniature daffodils are often smaller bulbs and should be planted 3-4” deep, also with the pointed side up.
    • Space daffodils 4-6” apart when planting individual bulbs. For mass planting and brilliant bursts of color in the garden, plant the bulbs 2-4” apart in bouquet planting groups, trenches and garden beds.
    • Immediately after planting, water the daffodil planting area. This helps to eliminate air pockets. After the initial planting bulbs do not require additional watering in fall or winter and prefer to be kept dry.
    • Apply a 2” layer of mulch in late fall.

I thought this many daffodils would be difficult to plant, but they quickly snuck into small pockets of my garden and have been multiplying over the years.

We bought 500 bulbs to naturalize a rocky hillside last Fall. Bulbs were of generous size, and in excellent condition. This Spring we have had weeks of blooms - from the all yellow first up variety to doubles, all-white, two color and multi stemmed - which just faded this past week (mid May). Wonderful! Wish I could post a picture!

    Pros:
    • Excellent quality and size
    • Well packaged
    • Perfectly timed for my zone 3-4
    Cons:
    • I do not have ANY!!
Pleased first time buyer with Holland Bulbs. I purchased the bulk 500 daffodil bulbs summer 2020 and they arrived in exceptional condition the first week of October (the company timed my planting season perfectly for the North Western Mountains of Maine). They arrived in a mesh onion like sack and survived the UPS delivery :). I knew that these bulbs would survive anywhere in normal planting zone conditions, but was skeptical on my rocky, poor soil estate. A few days after planting my large deer rodents dug up only 4 or 5 bulbs which I instantly replanted. To my surprise, these beauties survived a harsh Maine Mountain winter and have sprouted and sprung up! If available I am going to purchase another 1000-1500 to plant for fall 2021!

    Excellent variety, color, duration

I received the bulbs just in time for fall planting, in good condition. The planting was in a "naturalized pattern". In spring the bulbs performed well. I initially thought that some bulbs were lost over the winter, but that turned out to be a delayed start for some of the varieties. This resulted in a longer growing season and was great for extending cut flowers in the house. I'll be adding another 500 this fall to quickly enlarge the bedding, but imagine that they'll fill in well on their own.
