Planting Calla Lilies

The most popular cut flowers the Calla Lily (Zantedeschia) can be found in different sizes and colors. Calla lily bulbs bloom from June through August. The blooms are trumpet-shaped and available in an assortment of colors from yellow, pink, white, purple and orange.

Where to Plant Calla Lilies

Plant calla lilies in a full sun location where they receive 6-8 hours of direct sun per day. Calla lilies can be planted directly in the ground mixed in with perennials, annuals and other flower bulbs. They are also one of the best summer flowers for growing in pots. Calla Lily flower bulbs are only summer hardy, so be prepared to dig them up in fall or treat them as an annual in areas receiving frost in the winter.

How to Plant Calla Lily Bulbs

Plant calla lily bulbs in spring to early summer after the danger of frost has passed. The bulbs should be planted 2-3" below the soil surface. If you are unsure of which side of the bulb should be facing up, the bulb can be planted on it's side.
