Originally, this plant was purchased for someone else. When it arrived though, it was far too fragile for the intended recipient. The leaves would fall off at the slightest touch. So, they received a totally different plant. It sounds like a fail, but turned out great because in the meantime, I repotted this one, watered it occasionally, placed it under a grow light with some seeds that were germinating, and turned it once a day. Within a couple of weeks, there were tons of blooms! It’s been here a few months and it’s now on my kitchen counter where it receives fluorescent light from a bulb under the cabinet and some indirect light from a window. The leaves are no longer fragile and it’s continued to bloom. The leaves have a beautiful deep color and the blooms are interesting. I take care of a lot of outdoor plants and typically never have houseplants, but I really like this one and apparently, it’s liking its spot in our house. So, it’s staying.
