Description

Add some fragrance to your home this winter with our Ziva Paperwhites. These flowers love to be in containers and will bloom indoors and give off the sweet smell of the holiday season. Ziva is a no fuss, fast blooming cultivar. Just add water and wait for the lovely fragrance of Paperwhites to fill your home!

Paperwhites in a glass on pebbles:

Fill the glass with water to just beneath the bulb. The water should not touch the bottom of the bulb. Place the glass in a cool (5-10°C), dark and ventilated spot. When the buds are 5 cm high (after 10-12 weeks) the glass can be placed in full daylight at normal room temperature. Turn the glass occasionally partly, as the flowers will grow towards the light.

Paperwhites in a ceramic pot with soil:

Fill the pot with 5/6 of the potting soil. Press the bulbs, with the tips pointing upward, firmly into the soil and cover with the remaining soil so that the tips of the bulbs are just showing. Keep the soil moist but do not overwater. Place the pot in a cool (5-10°C), dark and ventilated spot. When the buds are 4 cm high (after 12 weeks) the pot can be placed in full daylight at normal room temperature. Turn the pot occasionally partly, as the flowers will grow towards the light.

Planting Advice

Daffodils perform best in full sun to light shade.
Plant daffodils when temperatures have cooled in your area September through December. Once your daytime temperatures are in the 60’s or lower consistently, this is a good time to plant your daffodils.
Proper drainage is critical to the daffodils success. Amend your soil with top soil and organic matter such as compost, manure or peat most prior to planting. You soil should be light and easy to work with. The addition of Kelp Meal to your planting area will help the daffodil bulbs establish strong roots.
Large 14/16 cm daffodils should be planted 6-8” deep with the pointed side facing the sky. Miniature daffodils are often smaller bulbs and should be planted 3-4” deep, also with the pointed side up.
Space daffodils 4-6” apart when planting individual bulbs. For mass planting and brilliant bursts of color in the garden, plant the bulbs 2-4” apart in bouquet planting groups, trenches and garden beds.
Immediately after planting, water the daffodil planting area. This helps to eliminate air pockets. After the initial planting bulbs do not require additional watering in fall or winter and prefer to be kept dry.
Apply a 2” layer of mulch in late fall.

Cons:

Ordered many bags of 5 each for forcing. Out of the entire order, only 1- 2 bulbs did not look viable bur planted anyway. I have them under grow lights b/c an indoor source of strong daylight is limited
in winter All bulbs are showing signs of growth.

The bulbs were small but firm. Some are already sprouting after I placed them into pots of good organic soil and just left them on my patio. Looking forward to seeing them grow.

These bulbs arrived in excellent condition and were twice the size of the paperwhite bulbs purchased at my local garden store. They grew quickly in different indoor environments and the blooms had a strong, classic scent. Very pleased.
