Lady Ferns are very adaptable, graceful plants that are suited for shady locations. The finely textured fronds reach up to 3' tall and 2' wide making this the perfect variety for under trees or in a wooded area. This fern does prefer full shade and moist soil but will adapt to some morning or late evening sun and somewhat drier soils once established. Ferns are not only the perfect way to add texture and color to a shade garden, they are also deer resistant! Lady Ferns do naturalize but the process can be slower than other fern varieties. To encourage quicker spreading, we do recommend dividing the clumps in Spring every 3-4 years.
