This sun loving perennial iris has variegated leaves which start out green and creamy yellow, and as the season progresses change to silvery white with green. The blooms are light purple and appear in late spring, while the foliage remains attractive all season. Iris pallida 'Variegata Alba' is a robust deer resistant iris with blooms similar to hybrid bearded iris. Iris pallida is often one of the parent varieties in most modern bearded iris.
This durable perennial grows from a rhizome, and tolerates full to a partially shaded location. Once established Variegated White Sweet Iris will tolerate dry soil conditions.
When choosing a planting location for the Iris pallida 'Variegata Alba' be sure there will be adequate room for growth, as this perennial rhizome grows 3-4' tall at maturity and has a spreading habit.
